A message from Lay's middle/high school friend

I seldom write long texts on weibo, but I’m doing this today because I’ve gotten a lot more fans filled with youth and energy~

A few days ago I checked on Zhang Yixing and EXO’s popularity with my sister and when she told me they were pretty popular, I was really glad.

I’m not that into korean stars but because of Yixing, I’d occasionally take a look at videos and news about EXO-M.

Previously, a few Yixing fans added me on weibo and QQ and proceeded to ask about things related to Yixing, I was pretty curious was to where you found my weibo and QQ and I generally felt like I totally didn’t fit to be a person idolising someone else, or even towards hallyu.

Alright, I’m getting off topic, a few days ago, I wished a friend happy birthday on his weibo and people actually spotted predebut Yixing in the photo so some friends requested for me to talk a little about Yixing, here it goes.

I had been in the same middle school as Yixing, he was a level higher than me and back then, he joined shows like HunanTV’s “Star Academy” and neglected his studies so he stayed back a year and ended up in the same level as me.

We weren’t acquainted back in middle school and back then, people used to think he was cocky. In school, he was always walking around with his guitar, a looked too disheveled. That was my impression of him in middle school too.

Later on, we often played basketball so our initial friendship began on the basketball court.

After that, he joined the street dance club so our contact with each other gradually increased, of course, the topics we talked about got more common. Back then, we were both into popping.

However, not long after we got close, he became an SM trainee. He had returned a few times and everytime, he seemed to change, becoming more and more mature, and the first few times he returned, he told us, “you must work hard, this route of mine is really challenging but I haven’t got a choice to retreat.”

However, the next few times he returned, his complaints got lesser and it felt like he had gotten used to the whole new life there. At times, we would talk on the phone and he would tell me some life situations or things in the company but I’ve forgotten everything so please forgive me…….

As his friend, seeing the amount of support he is receiving now, I am happy and I hope he will become more and more popular.

Yixing’s seemed to have a pretty hard time at SM, he told me that he was often the first to enter the dance studio and the last to leave, he woke up at almost 7 everyday and would return home only at 12 midnight. In every call, he would talk about the improvements he made in dancing and would talk about the promotions from once class to another, in the end, he finally worked hard and got into A class, he told me that it was the best dance class in SM.

In the period he trained, he returned a few times when I was in year 2 of high school, I met with difficulties in the dance club then and coincidentally he had returned so I choreographed a dance with him and during the performance that day, under the shouting of some friends, I danced nobody with him…………..

I have no idea what else to say but I feel like you know more than myself about Yixing and I’m also unsure as to whether the things I know can be said, because their company appears to be rather psychotic to me…

My most recent phone call with him happened when History was released, through the call, he asked if I saw any improvements in his dancing and asked for comments, I remembered telling him it was rather good and that he danced better than the rest. He even asked if I couldn’t notice him because of the other members’ charming appearance….. I remembered replying that actually amongst the others, I only noticed you, and that I forgot the others at a glance… (the other members, please do not be offended, I am just really uninterested in korean stars…)

Anyways, I just hope that everyone can continue to support Yixing and I hope that you will not support him only because of his looks because if you’re supporting him because of his dancing and singing, he would be extra delightful, that I can promise~ And moreover, I feel like if you’re liking a person based on his looks, this admiration won’t last too long. People grow tired of charming appearances too~ So everyone, please do take note of Yixing’s personalities and talents~~

It seems like a lot of his fans are still students, and I hope everyone won’t neglect their studies because of the idolizing~ If everyone works hard and enters mine and Yixing’s school, won’t that be more powerful? Friends who fit the cut should totally work hard and join our high school~ is actually a pretty top high school nationally~ Hahaha~

I really don’t know what else am I allowed to say. In the future, if anyone has any questions, you can leave a message for me and if I have the time and know the answer, I will definitely reply~

Oh right! One more thing, the secret on whether Yixing had underwent plastic surgery! Many people feel that the him in Star Academy seemed a little different from him now, but I would like to ask a question, when you compare yourself now to a photo of yourself at 12, do you look exactly the same? Some said Yixing seemed to have a round face back then but he now has a sharp one instead.. To be honest, if everyone consumes only one meal a day, control your diet and dance from 7am to 12am midnight, you would lose as much weight too~

Victory! EXO-K Voted As The Next K-pop Act Likely to Go Huge in 2013!

You guys were unanimous in selecting EXO-K as K-pop’s next big thing, with the boy band beating out runner-up, Juniel, by roughly 90,000 votes in our tournament to determine the K-pop act most likely to go huge in 2013. It’s a landslide victory for SM Entertainment’s latest creation, but not at all a shock one. While EXO-K didn’t promote nearly as much as their rookie rivals, B.A.P, this year, their debut EP, MAMA, was one of the highest selling K-pop releases of 2012. In fact, it’s been so successful on the charts that it can’t even be compared to other rookie acts — the disc has actually shifted more copies than albums released by top-tier superstars like JYJ’s Junsu, CNBLUE, KARA, and even PSY himself.

Why slum it with the noobs when you can go straight to the big leagues. Right?

It’s not hard to see why EXO fever has spread so quickly. EXO-K is like a hybrid of SM’s best boy bands, carefully constructed to be the ultimate super group. They’ve got the good looks of TVXQ, the slick moves of SHINee, and the tight hooks of Super Junior. Hell, they’re so great that there’s even a Chinese version of them.

Even at this early stage in their career, EXO-K have already shown off multiple musical styles through their MAMA promotions. Buzz single, “What is Love,” is a beautifully lush ballad built around the silky smooth vocals of members D.O. and Baekhyun, the tropical dance-pop of “History” recalls some of SM’s finest earmworms, and the explosive “MAMA” breaks all the pop rules by incorporating operatic chanting and a screamo breakdown (that that, dubstep!). After all this dabbling, we’re looking forward to seeing the boys narrow down a specific concept in 2013. Sina Entertainment: After finish the long period of practicing at a trainee, were you satisfied with the feeling after performing onstage for the first time?
Suho: After finishing the showcase, the feeling we had wasn’t “we’re finished”, but rather “we’re starting from now”. I don’t know how the other members feel, but personally I was not completely satisfied with the first stage. In the future I have to practice even harder, to present a more impressive stage.

Sina Entertainment: Ever since debuting in April this year, you’ve been really busy. Comparing the present and pre-debut dreams of the “artist life”, what’s different?
Chanyeol: Before debut everything was really stressful. After appearing onstage, however, now it feels really happy.
Suho: We’re not really trying to compete with other groups, rather, we’re hoping to become even more motivated, wishing that we can share the same stage as many of our seniors.

Sina Entertainment: In comparison to when you debuted, what are the biggest improvements and changes have you each experienced till now?
Suho: We’ve received an interview from the showcase, but at the time I found it hard to speak in front of everyone. Through our activities I met a lot of seniors, and after communicating with them, I can now very comfortably express my thoughts to everyone. It’s the same for performing, I was very nervous before, but now after repeated practice and all types of experiences, I can perform even more perfectly.
Chanyeol: I’ve now learnt how to look into the camera lens during music performances. At first when doing activities with SHINee seniors, the seniors told me how the method of finding the camera lens was very important, also the teamwork between the members have slowly gained tacit understanding. Because I am with the members of EXO-K all day, we are all very familiar now.
Baekhyun: Even though I was very nervous when we first debuted, but now in the field of singing, dancing and performance, I am very confident. We have also begun paying attention to our own images, before we would casually wear sportswear outdoors, but after debuting, even if we’re only going to somewhere close, we have to dress up a little bit.
D.O: There have been improvements in all fields, there has been the most improvement in regards to language. On our debut stage (SBS “Inkigayo”) when asked to introduce our title song, I said “majestic” as “superior”. At the time I was so nervous, my mind went completely blank, I didn’t even say what I prepared beforehand well. Luckily it was because our leader-hyung picked up my words that we got over the problem. Now when we have live shows, I will definitely prepare well beforehand.
Kai: There have been improvements in “sleeping” too, no matter where I am I can sleep immediately. (laughs)
Sehun: Because I am the youngest in the group, hyungs are always letting me be spoilt. In the past I wouldn’t do aegyo very often, but now no matter what show I go on they all ask me to play the cute role, so personally I feel that I’ve improved the most in aegyo. (laughs) Also when we first debuted, I wouldn’t even remember what I did after performances, now I do my best to seem happy on stage, my confident side.

Sina Entertainment: In front of your seniors or in front of TV stations, are you all very careful?
Chanyeol: We are always giving a 90 degrees bow. During our training period we heard a lot of people say how important greetings are, so we always take the initiative to greet seniors.

Sina Entertainment: So after hearing that EXO-K and EXO-M would be debuting at the same time in China and South Korea, how did you feel?
Chanyeol: I’m really happy. Because I am able to debut at the same time as these friends who understand tacitly under the group name EXO, I’m really very happy. Also this kind of fresh group tactic lets us all feel a lot of competitiveness.
Baekhyun: We had been practicing continually, only at the very end did we hear the company say they were using this kind of tactic to debut.

Sina Entertainment: EXO-K and EXO-M are not only one group, on foreign grounds you can also be rivals.
Kai: I don’t think we are rivals. When EXO-K and EXO-M merge into one group, going into the world to promote our music, we are even more radiant.

Sina Entertainment: What charms about EXO-K do you think makes Chinese fans like you?
Suho: I think it’s probably influenced by the popularity of EXO-M’s members.

Sina Entertainment: What is the difference between EXO-K and EXO-M?
Baekhyun: Language?
Chanyeol: The voices are different. The members of EXO-K generally have deeper voices, whereas EXO-M’s voices are crisp and clear. Even though we are performing the same songs, the feeling is very different.

Sina Entertainment: Just finishing your musical activities, what have you been busy with lately?
Chanyeol: Preparing the album, exercising and practicing with the other members at the same time. When not doing activities in China, we usually gather in the practice room. Even though the places of activities are different, but the performances on stage are all the same. So we often talk about our own songs, talk about EXO-M’s members, and learn Chinese.

Sina Entertainment: Within EXO-K, whose Chinese is the best?
EXO-K: It should be Suho-hyung.
Suho: EXO-M has Chinese members within them, so I don’t really count as the best, I just do my best to learn Chinese.

Sina Entertainment: How do you encourage teamwork and relationship between the members?
EXO-K: We have “family meetings”.
Baekhyun: In the past, every week we would gather together to have a family meeting. Nowadays we’re always together, so there’s been more time for us to chat.
Sehun: There are never times when I’m bored when with the members.

Sina Entertainment: Do you usually stay in the dorm? Do you do household chores each on your own? Are there any interesting dorm stories that you can share with everyone?
EXO-K: Each of us have our own household chores we’re responsible for. We complete everything fairly after splitting the roommates into teams.
Kai: We’ll use rock, paper, scissors to decide who washes the dishes.
Chanyeol: At first, our leader, Suho, lost quite often, but recently it’s turned into the youngest Sehun.
D.O: Because recently our maknae has been losing all the time, we don’t play rock, paper, scissors any more, it’s best that we voluntarily do our household chores.
Baekhyun: There aren’t any divides between age groups within EXO-K. Sometimes we’re like a family, sometimes we’re also like friends.

Sina Entertainment: When did you begin to feel that you’d become more and more popular?
Suho: We can feel it when we’re at the airport. The first time we came to China, there were a lot of fans who came to the airport, the second and third time, there were even more fans. It made me feel really shocked.

Sina Entertainment: You’re very popular in China, are there any differences between Chinese fans and Korean fans?
Chanyeol: No matter what country we go to, the fans all cheer for us, like us, and support us equally.

Sina Entertainment: Are there any Chinese fans that have made particularly special banners?
Baekhyun: Writing “Baekhyun-ah” as “Bekhyun-ah” (spelling mistake). At first I suspected that someone wrote it wrong, but only later did I find out it was Chinese fan. I think that Chinese fans are really cute.
Chanyeol: It’s really moving when the Chinese fans sing along to Korean songs with us, in the future we’ll bring you even better music to reciprocate you guys.

Sina Entertainment: Are there any plans for performances, starring in dramas or something of the like?
Baekhyun: If we have the opportunity, of course we’d like to go up for the challenge. But at the moment, we still hope to reach an even greater development in our music.

Sina Entertainment: As the group dance you dance on stage gets harder, the opportunity for each member to perform and sing becomes smaller, would you feel regretful?
Chanyeol: There’s a lot of charm in which EXO-K still have to show in the future, so we will slowly release more charm.
Kai: Because we are all very young and have a lot of capabilities, we believe that in the future we will perform even better. Recently, Baekhyun and D.O have danced in an advertisement. The other members also all hope that they can perform even more splendidly in a lot of other fields too.

Sina Entertainment: The praise that left the deepest impression is?
Suho: A lot of seniors have given us a lot of suggestions. Especially Super Junior’s Donghae-senior had once said: After seeing EXO-K and EXO-M’s performance, I felt it was the most dazzling when you stepped on stage with the name EXO.

Sina Entertainment: Your feelings after joining SM Family Concert?

This year, SM Entertainment launched the new group EXO with 12 members. They are divided into two groups, EXO-K and EXO-M. With the same concept as SUPER JUNIOR-M, EXO-M aims to develop in China, therefore there are Chinese members in the group. Also, the proportions of the members are higher, with 4 Chinese members KRIS, LAY, LUHAN, TAO and 2 Korean members XIUMIN and CHEN. Since their debut in April this year, this is their second time in Taiwan, being more and more popular each time round. What interesting things happened during their visit in Taiwan? Let’s take a look in an up-close interview!

- PLUS! 2012 Tainan International Friendship Festival
In Taiwan, there were rarely any large-scaled concert activities, especially with international singers. On 8 September 2012, Tainan International Friendship Festival brought together Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean groups. Amongst them are Super Junior-M and EXO-M and once they appeared onstage, the atmosphere in Taiwan instantly soared.

- Gathering of Taiwan, Japanese and Korean Singers
A few years back in Korea, Japan and China, many transnational large-scaled concerts were held. By using performances in concerts, it allows musical exchange within singers and also allows fans to feel the charm of music without borders. Last month’s Tainan International Friendship Festival gathered Taiwan’s Lollipop F and Dream Girls, Japan’s w-inds and Koyanagi Yuki, as well as Korean’s Super Junior-M and EXO-M. Being singers from overseas, not only did they come to Taiwan to sing for the fans, but they also got to feel Tainan’s culture of its ancient capital style.

- EXO-M Danced Out A Body Of Sweat
When SM Entertainment’s newly released group EXO-M performed, they sang Mama, Angel and History. Making their debut in April this year, although they are still a rookie group, but with their excellent dancing and singing, the fans could not help themselves but to go crazy and scream for them. Being the second time in Taiwan, they have felt Taiwanese fans’ enthusiasm. Therefore, they gave more strength in the performance, dancing till their whole body was covered with sweat. Other than composing music, Lay likes to cook and is EXO-M’s representative of a good man. - Fans Following Them Around
During this short Taiwan trip, EXO-M left for Taipei the next day after Tainan’s performance to begin their packed schedule of publicizing activities. What made Lay and the other members unable to forget was that there were many fans that followed them around in cars. Even at the hotel entrance and lobby, the fans were already there, silently waiting for their arrival. In additional, thoughtful Taiwanese fans hoped that their idols would get to try more Taiwanese food, hence they have prepared the food for them. 3. T-Shirt (A / B) : Range harga Rp 250,000 – Rp 300,000 (ukuran S / M / L)
